Administration and Faculty

Amy Bauschard, Director:  Ms Bauschard is a graduate of Gannon University with a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She also earned a Principal's Certificate, a Certificate in Reading, and she holds a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Gannon. Ms. Bauschard is the director of the Carpe Diem Academy for graduate students at Mercyhurst University, co-director of the Mercyhurst University Pre-K Partnership with Erie's Public Schools and adjunct professor.  Previously she taught at Our Lady's Christian School for six and a half years, and has been an adjunct professor at Gannon University.

Catherine Dugan, Music, Dramatic Movement and Literature Teacher: Mrs. Dugan completed her Bachelor of Arts degree and teaching certification at Gannon University. She has been teaching at Mercy Center of the Arts since 1989, and is a registered teacher with Music Together®. Her background includes the study of dance, piano, choral music and sacred organ, as well as art and pottery. Mrs. Dugan loves sharing her enthusiasm for books and music with young chldren and their families.

Abigail Zielinski, Art Teacher:   Ms Zielinkski is a graduate of Edinboro University with a degree and teaching certificate in Art Education. Her expereince includes working with young chldren at the Erie Children's Museum and teaching art for the Erie School District Carpe Diem Academy. Ms Zielinski loves to experiment with different art mediums with the children. 

Amanda Boots, Science and Creative Exploration Teacher: Ms. Boots is a graduate of Mercyhurst University and is certified in Early Childhood Special Education. She is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Special Education at Mercyhurst. She loves working in the early childhood field and is very excited to be a part of the staff at Mercy Center of the Arts.

Darla Speranza, Treasurer: Mrs. Speranza received her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Business and her Master in Business Administration from Gannon University. She has worked in accounting, tax and finance and has taught accounting at a local business school. Darla has worked for the past 16 years as a tax professional.

Fernanda Cesar, Secretary:   Ms. Cesar recently graduated with her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Special Education from Mercyhurst University and is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Special Education at Mercyhurst.
