Amy Bauschard, Director: Ms Bauschard is a graduate of Gannon University with a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She also earned a Principal's Certificate, a Certificate in Reading, and she holds a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Gannon. Ms. Bauschard is the director of the Carpe Diem Academy for graduate students at Mercyhurst University, co-director of the Mercyhurst University Pre-K Partnership with Erie's Public Schools and adjunct professor. Previously she taught at Our Lady's Christian School for six and a half years, and has been an adjunct professor at Gannon University.
Amanda Boots, Assistant Director: is a graduate of Mercyhurst University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood/Special Education and a Master’s degree in Special Education. Miss Amanda is also the Assistant Director of the Carpe Diem Academy for graduate students at Mercyhurst University. She loves working in the early childhood field and is very excited to be a part of the Mercy Center of the Arts staff.
Catherine Dugan, Music, Dramatic Movement and Literature Teacher: Mrs. Dugan completed her Bachelor of Arts degree and teaching certification at Gannon University. She has been teaching at Mercy Center of the Arts since 1989, and is a registered teacher with Music Together®. Her background includes the study of dance, piano, choral music and sacred organ, as well as art and pottery. Mrs. Dugan loves sharing her enthusiasm for books and music with young chldren and their families.
Michaella Poldruhi received her undergrad in Early Childhood & Special Education at Mercyhurst University, and is currently in her second year of grad school at Mercyhurst with a concentration in Special Education and Autism. Miss Poldruhi has had previous classroom experience through clinicals, student teaching, special needs summer camp, as well as babysitting jobs.
Cassi Unger, Art Teacher: Ms. Unger is a graduate of Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida where she earned a BFA in Illustration. Furthermore, Ms. Unger completed the Illustration Academy’s Summer Intensive Program in Kansas City, Missouri. Her paintings and illustrations have been displayed across the country, as well as, locally. When Ms. Unger is not teaching at Mercy Center of the Arts, she spends her time as a private art instructor. She enjoys teaching her students the fundamentals of visual arts by guiding the children to grow their creative potential.
Darla Speranza, Treasurer: Mrs. Speranza received her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Business and her Master in Business Administration from Gannon University. She has worked in accounting, tax and finance and has taught accounting at a local business school. Darla has worked for the past 16 years as a tax professional.
